Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarships for his family and service to the community. He was the youngest son of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They had him raised on the farm they owned in Eufala. In second football, he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in the entire nation. In the three years that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained a degree as a teacher. Lee Roy's fourth service was ten-hours per week as a volunteer in the college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. He also began a career in business. The first position he held was an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that the year 1982 was when The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 outstanding youngsters across the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993, Roy was a part of the university of south Florida's sports department as the Director of Athletics as an associate. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
