April Ross
April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. Ross is among the few female beach volleyball players that be able to do so. She will be competing in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, a first-time Olympian. Ross is hoping to secure an Olympic first gold medal however, she also hopes to win more. It could be the last time she has the chance to do so at the age of 39. Nevertheless she is confident that winning the gold medal is in reach. Ross told NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best or play a great game and they are able to play well, the team can win a gold medal. Also, I am going be relying on a little bit of good luck. Ross born in 1982 and lived within Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began playing athletics at Newport Harbor High School. Ross went on to play in a myriad of activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. When she was a student in the prep school, she competed in the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball and track. While she did well in indoor volleyball, it was clear that her abilities were higher than normal. During her high school career she played middle blocker, outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court as per her bio at the college. Her efforts were recognized when she was named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions players of the year. In addition, she was awarded the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman may have started working together in the year 2017, however Ross was already an established volleyball player before they joined forces. It's true that she has won numerous tournaments, including one with a legendary volleyball player. She teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's trainer. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who was the winner of the world championship with Kessy in 2009 was also significant on the international stage. They went into winning a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team to beat for the gold. As fate would have it Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. The pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross started her college career with the USC Trojans after high school. It was a long time before Ross hit the sand and turned pro. Her career was a success through college. When she was a freshman in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. In 2000, her Trojans made it to the Final Four. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss during her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat as an All-American. In her two final years with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them win consecutive championships. In her own way she established herself as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the best female college volleyball players in the country. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross was never able to witness her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. In 2001 when Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. This meant that Ross continues to be close to her parent who died. Margie has inspired her in her life and on the beaches.
